AI-Powered Translations
LangSyncer integrates with AI services to automatically translate your content, saving hours of manual translation work.
How It Works
- You provide a translation in your source language
- AI translates while preserving:
- Variables (
{name},:count) - Formatting (line breaks, punctuation)
- Variables (
- Review the AI output
- Save to create a draft
- Publish when ready
Using AI Translation
Method 1: Autofill Single Translation
Translate one key to all languages at once.
- Create or edit a translation
- Enter text in your source language (e.g., English)
- Select the Source Language if different from default
- Click AI Autofill
- AI fills in all empty language fields
- Review each translation
- Click Save
Source Language Selection:
- Default is your project's base language
- Change using the dropdown if you want to translate from another language
Method 2: Translate Missing
Translate ALL missing translations in bulk. This feature is available from:
- The Translations page (top button)
- The Project actions modal
Steps:
- Click the Translate Missing button
- Review the summary:
- Total translations to process
- Number of missing translations
- Estimated quota consumption
- Click Start Translation
- Wait for processing to complete
How it works:
- Scans all translations in the current scope (project or global)
- Finds translations with missing language values
- Uses first available language as source
- Translates to all missing languages
- Consumes quota for each translation
Note: This runs synchronously - you'll see a progress indicator. For large projects, this may take several minutes.
AI Quota
AI translations consume quota from your account.
How Quota Works
| Action | Quota Cost |
|---|---|
| Translate to 1 language | 1 unit |
| Translate to 5 languages | 5 units |
| Re-translate same text | Costs again |
Quota Sources
- Subscription Tier: Monthly quota included with your plan
- Quota Packs: Purchased additional quota (one-time)
- Project Limits: Optional caps per project
Checking Your Quota
View quota in multiple places:
- Translations page: Account quota indicator at top
- Translation form: Warning when quota is low
- Auto-translate dialog: Shows estimated consumption
When Quota is Exhausted
- AI translation buttons become disabled
- "Quota Exceeded" warning appears
- Manual translation still works
- Purchase quota packs or wait for monthly reset
Project-Level Limits
Administrators can set limits per project:
- Prevents one project from consuming all account quota
- Configured in Project Settings > AI Quota
- Empty value means "use account quota without limit"
Quota Consumption Tracking
Every AI translation is logged:
| Tracked Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| User ID | Who used the quota |
| Project ID | Which project (or global) |
| Source locale | Language translated from |
| Target locale | Language translated to |
| Character count | Size of translation |
| Timestamp | When it happened |
Administrators can view usage reports in the admin panel.
Best Practices
Start with Quality Source Text
Better source = better translations:
Good:
Welcome back, {name}! You have {count} new messages.
Poor:
welcome back name messages
The AI uses the full context of your source text.
Review Critical Content
Always manually review:
- Legal text: Terms, privacy policies
- Marketing copy: Brand voice matters
- Safety instructions: Must be accurate
- Error messages: User-facing errors
Use Consistent Terminology
The AI may translate the same term differently:
- "Dashboard" might become "Panel", "Tablero", or "Cuadro de mando"
- Review for consistency across your project
- Consider using consistent source language terms
Batch Your Translations
More efficient workflow:
- Add all your new keys with source text
- Use "Translate Missing" once
- Publish as a batch
This reduces CDN regenerations and makes review easier.
Preserve Placeholders
The AI preserves these automatically:
{name},{count},{date}(Laravel-style):name,:count(Laravel colon-style)
But always verify placeholders weren't changed:
Source: "Hello, {name}"
AI: "Hola, {name}" ✓
AI: "Hola, {nombre}" ✗ (changed placeholder!)
Troubleshooting
AI Translation Not Working
Check these first:
- Does your account or project have quota remaining?
- Does the source language have content?
Common error messages:
- "Quota Exceeded" - Purchase more quota
- "No Source Text" - Enter text in source language first
Translations Are Wrong or Low Quality
Try these:
- Simplify the source text
- Avoid idioms and slang
- Check if the language pair is well-supported
Translate Missing Stopped Early
This happens when:
- Quota was exhausted mid-process
- An error occurred
Check AI Translation Jobs for detailed logs and status of each job. Translations completed before the stop are saved as drafts.
